Some photos of Crocus and spring bulbs taken in February, St Johns College, Oxford
St John’s College is one of Oxford University’s most prestigious colleges; it was founded in 1555 and is reputed to be one of the wealthiest colleges. In spring, it’s gardens are well worth visiting for its naturalised bulbs. I visited in February when the crocus were in full flower. In a few weeks, the daffodils will be coming out.
Crocus
Snowdrops amidst the crocus. For these photos, I used a mini tripod and time delay. This enables to have a a high F setting F32. This enables a wider field of focus to be sharp in the picture. This needs a slow shutter speed of 0.5 seconds, which is why you need a tripod. Compact cameras are excellent at taking an individual flower (using low F setting) but struggle to take whole field in focus.
