Tourists in Oxford

‘Welcoming if not encouraging’ – I think this was the message of an Oxford councillor to tourists. Certainly it doesn’t seem as if tourists need encouraging with the city getting more popular every year. Especially in the summer months, when students are away there are many hundreds of tourists walking around Broad Street, Radcliffe Camera e.t.c

A really peaceful place, except if you sit and meditate here, every ten minutes you will hear a tourist guide coming in with a handful of visitors, and they ALL say. “Not much happens here, but, that tree over there was featuree in the Harry Potter film – The Goblet’s of Fire, it was under here, Dracus Malfoy was turned into a toad (or whatever it was). If only I had a bit of magic like ’silenco’ for when tourists came in their.

Peace Mile Cutteslowe Park

The Peace Mile in Cutteslowe Park was founded in 1986 by Sri Chinmoy, a noted student of peace, with the Lord Mayor of Oxford. The peace mile is a popular spot for local runners to run around Cutteslowe Park.
